Introducing Kohlie our SDIT (Service Dog In Training). Kohlie joined our home at 12 weeks of age. She is from a littler of 8 pups of which temperamentally 5 of the litter were determined to be service dog training eligible. She remains in weekly contact with two of her sibs, a brother and a sister.
The purpose of this blog is to start documenting some of the everyday things that happen as we journey through puppy hood towards adolescence and into adulthood. The journey has many destinations on its way towards the final destination of Service Dog Central, at my home.
Kohlie will be in our home and attending classes with Service Dogs of Oregon operated by Paul J White, a seasoned service dog trainer of 35 years. We are so blessed to be in his classes and benefiting from his expertise.
Our prior trainer, Mary McNeight, of Service Dog Academy, in West Seattle, WA is who helped us train June, our 2 year old, Border Collie for Diabetic Alert Dog. I highly recommend her. She is a well educated, experienced dog trainer. She was a speaker at the recent ADPT conference in Spokane, WA. Well received by her training peers.
You are welcome to read along as we work towards developing Kohlie's full potential in her Service Dog capacities.
